Self-care is imperative in order to feel mentally good and physically healthy. However, not everyone can afford expensive spa trips, massages, facials, and fancy gym memberships. Fortunately, there are ways to pamper yourself without spending an arm and a leg. No matter how big or small your budget, these self-care options won’t even require you to leave your home.

1. Create a positive atmosphere.
The atmosphere of your home should be calming and relaxing. Play some soothing music, light a scented candle, and make sure your home is clean. This will set a great mood for your home, and the tranquility will put your mind at ease.

2. Take a long bubble bath.
Even if you can’t transform your entire home into a spa-like environment, you can still transform your bathroom into a luxurious paradise. Gather your favorite scented candles, epsom salts or bath bombs, a loofah, and a glass of wine, and you’re all set. If you want to keep yourself occupied, grab a book or an iPad that can play your favorite TV show. You can also play some calming music to really set the mood. Spending time in a good soak can be rejuvenating for the soul.

3. Indulge in a massage.
It’s very easy to get a massage in the comfort of your own home. There are many professionals that offer home visits and bring all the necessities with them. All you have to do is book the massage, pay, and enjoy the experience. If you have the money, consider investing in a quality massage chair. This way, you can relax and decompress whenever you feel like it.

4. Do what makes you happy.
Self-care doesn’t always mean pampering yourself with fancy beauty routines. Sometimes, it just means taking time out of your day to practice your hobbies and do what makes you happy.  Spend time with your pet, read a book you’ve been meaning to start, tend to your garden, cook a delicious meal or baked good, binge a TV show, or practice something new, such as embroidery. Your options are almost endless.

5. Invite friends over.
You don’t have to be alone to practice self-care. Oftentimes, our most cherished experiences and memories include our loved ones. Invite some friends over and enjoy your time together. Cook a meal together, snuggle up and watch a movie, or work on a DIY craft. Spending time with friends and family can sometimes be exactly the rejuvenation you need.
